Well, my civic duty is fulfilled for this election cycle. I voted straight Democrat - 1) I want to keep the rabid, spray-tanned homonculus away from the nuclear codes. 2) The Republican congress needs to have its stranglehold on the government broken and the only way I can do that is try to dilute their majority with the opposite party (the one independent candidate has a snowball's chance, I fear).

You know, we really need to start a movement to have Election Day declared a national holiday. I mean, I was able to work with my office manager to clear my morning schedule so that I could easily wait two hours in line in order to cast my vote, but many other people are NOT that lucky. And, if people think this puts too many national holidays on the calendar, then let's knock off Columbus Day. I have no desire to celebrate an explorer who forced the people he discovered to bring him gold on pain of having their hands chopped off if they didn't bring enough, and then sold the native women into sexual slavery with his men.
